The Montessori Prep classroom is for children ages 6 weeks through 12 months.  This room is a warm and welcoming environment where the Montessori philosophy thrives. Children are stimulated with various activities like music, language, literature, and large and fine motor activities on a daily basis.  It is our goal to keep each child on their individualized schedule and watch them grow.

Our Pre-Primary Montessori Classroom is for children ages 12 months through 3 years.  This classroom is a place where children use hands-on exploration and social interaction to help them learn about the world. Montessori experiences are organized to promote budding independence, to enhance both language and social skills, and to build the confidence needed to reach their individual potential.

The Primary Montessori classroom is a classroom for children ages  3 to 6 years. Children are free to move about the classroom and choose their work from the self-correcting materials displayed on open shelves. Over a period of time, the children develop into a "normalized community," working with high concentration and few interruptions. Each child works at his or her own pace and is guided to reach their greatest potential.

In this room there are five areas of concentration:
Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural.

The Practical Life area enhances the development of task organization and cognitive order through care of self, care of the environment, exercises of grace and courtesy, and coordination of physical movement.

The Sensorial area enables the child to order, classify, and describe sensory impressions in relation to length, width, temperature, mass, color, and pitch.

The Mathematics area makes use of manipulative materials to enable the child to internalize concepts of number, symbol, sequence, operations, and memorization of basic facts.

The Language area includes oral language development, written expression, reading, the study of grammar, and children's literature. Basic skills in writing and reading are developed through the use of sandpaper letters, alphabet cut-outs, and various presentations allowing children to link sounds and letter symbols effortlessly and to express their thoughts through writing.

The Cultural area has activities that expose the child to basics in geography, history, and life sciences. Music, art, and movement education are part of the integrated cultural curriculum.

Music Enrichment

Providence Montessori School House music classes feature curricula for musical learning in our classrooms and new musical themes every few weeks. We believe that early integration of music into a child’s daily routine means improving your child’s ability to think, reason, create and express. Trained educators provide developmentally and age appropriate music and movement programs on a bi-weekly basis, which includes exposure to a variety of musical instruments.

Physical Education

We offer a bi-weekly unique physical education program for ages 18 months to 6 years. Our exciting age appropriate games set children up for success. Games are designed to develop coordination and refine motor skills while building self-confidence.
